Choosing Christ Over Culture - A Girls Anthem Devo Packet
Hey Family,
Hollywood Hustle & Heart will be back next Friday! In the meantime, if you haven’t caught up on the earlier installments of my serial novel, now’s the perfect time to dive in before the next chapter drops. You can start here:
But I had to pause the series this week because something felt more urgent.
With all the back-and-forth I’ve been seeing on social media about shows like Forever & She the People and movies like Sinners, I knew it was time to bring this conversation front and center again. As disciples, we’re called to be set apart—not just in our faith, but in how we live, move, and even how we entertain ourselves.
Yeah, it might feel tough when everybody’s hyped about the latest Netflix drop, but Kingdom living comes with Kingdom choices.
This devo packet is built from an article I wrote months ago about anchoring your entertainment to God’s Word. It’s real. It’s convicting. And it’s full of grace.
Check it out below—and hit reply to let me know how it resonates.
Devotional Summary
It’s not just TV. It’s not just music. As disciples of Christ, our everyday choices—including what we watch, listen to, and attend—must reflect the kingdom we belong to. Anchoring our entertainment to God’s heart means checking our convictions, redefining fun, and choosing Christ over culture—even when it’s uncomfortable or misunderstood.
This season, God is calling you to maturity, not just morality. He’s calling you to discernment, not just decisions. You’re not being “extra.” You’re being set apart. And the places, shows, music, and conversations you engage in all shape your spirit.

Prayer
Father,
Thank You for calling me higher. Thank You for loving me enough to correct me. Help me anchor every part of my life—including my entertainment—to Your word. Holy Spirit, convict me gently but clearly when I’m walking into content or spaces that don’t align with Your will. Remove any attachments I have to things that glorify the kingdom of darkness. Give me joy in the clean, fun, and fulfilling things You provide. Remind me daily that I’m not just a Christian—I’m a disciple. Teach me how to walk in truth even when it’s lonely, and help me silence the noise of culture so I can hear Your voice louder. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
