I love it. Whenever I crawl over to a business website and they have all of their social accounts accessible to their customers.
My jaw drops when I click on the lovely twitter bird and I see that they haven't tweeted since they opened their account two years ago. The lone tweet that may be there is one about a new restaurant they tried, attached to a picture of the dish they ate.
Life happens. I get that. But with mobile technology advancements, there's no reason you can't dish out at least one image with a solid caption or 140 characters to keep visitors to your page engaged, especially new prospects who may be interested in what you have to say.
And with social media tools like, Buffer, the opportunities to get out there are limitless, even when you’re pressed for time.
Try these five methods to boost your social media strength, which can help you maintain your social media swag, regardless of the platform you decide to utilize. Always post with concern and consistency for your brand, as well as your audience.
5 Ways to Boost Your Social Media Swag
If you decide to get personal, make it work for your brand as well. Instead of just tweeting a photo at a restaurant, incorporate how that can help your followers. For example, if you’re an organizer who works with busy moms, try something like “Just tried this new spot. Food is awesome and they have a Friday night kids menu with half off prices.” It may not be the case at every restaurant you try, but if you can’t think of unique ways to tweet to promote your business, be creative during your personal tweeting.
Tweet/post at least once a day. Even if it's to let your clients know that you're working on a project. Say 'hi' first, then tweet a few words about the project you're working on. Show how passionate you are about working on something new and how you’re interested in learning how to become better at what you do. Instagram has made it possible to literally have your own TV show. Try posting a one minute video to let people know what you’re working on and drop a caption that tells them about your previous products/services. Passion and purpose go a long way in showing prospects that you are more than just a business owner.
Buffer now allows you to schedule single-image post instagram without having to finish the post in the instagram app. This is great, because you can literally schedule for the week and the post will automatically go out one the day and time you set.
Post a picture or two of a new project you are working on where you are using the advice you give your clients. It will show that you are somewhat personable. Show your clients that the expert advice you share with them, you've actually implemented yourself.
When you’re on a social media platform throughout the day, do it in 10 minute spurts at least three times a day. When you do, search for your customers by putting your industry in the search box. See what people are saying and try to comment or share information that you can add to the discussion. You may not have a lot to say, but a retweet on Twitter can go a long way.
Be Likeable! David Kerpen said it best in his New York Times bestselling book, Likeable Social Media. Don't just post on social media to post or because people say it will help you build your business. Make me like you. Essentially, nobody wants to do business with someone they don’t like.
Swag is a word that we’ve definitely overused, but in hindsight, it matters to your social media branding. The world will define your brand/business by how you present yourself. However, it still means* “stylish confidence” so make sure everything with your name on it carries your swag.
