The Weight of The Wait Day Six – When More Doors Close
Because He just may have you close a few more before a new one opens...
Hey Brave Hearts for Christ,
So, I told you guys about the last rough season I was just in. God pushed me out of my part-time job in property management on October 29th, 2021. With that, I expected for November to be a time of rest and preparation for whatever He had for me next. What I didn’t expect, was for more doors to close.
What’s so ironic is, I’ve been here before. Where a huge door closes in my life (job or relocation to a new city) and other doors close as well, but usually, God has already released some portion of what I will step into next. Usually by now, a phone call, email or something has come through giving me a glimmer of hope that God is moving.
During that season, not only did He push me out of my job, but my car was repossessed on December 20th, 2021 and I was almost evicted during the month of December. Some people would think that was a sign that God must be pushing me out of Atlanta, but I knew it wasn’t (as of July 2023, I no longer live in Atlanta). The car – I kind of expected. I truly believe that the blessing of The Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow to it. I had been through so much financially with this car and after four years, it had served its purpose.
But I was frustrated about the possible eviction. Yet what I learned will shock you. God doesn’t close doors to torture us during out wait. Some of you may have experienced a closed door, then the loss of a friendship that was long overdue or the loss of finances – all while doing exactly what God told you to do. The reality is, closed doors are a sign that a new level of trust and glory is about to hit your life. God is showing you that He trusts you (we’ll talk about this more on Day Nine).

On the road to next, God always requires us to give up something to prove our trust in Him. What are you willing to sacrifice to go further with God? It may not be a car or a friendship, but there’s always a sacrifice. Abraham was willing to sacrifice the son God promised him. He was committed to serving God in an out of season, no matter the cost.
God will give me a new car. God will also increase my finances. One of my favorite passages of scripture is Leviticus 26:9-14. One of the things it mentions is how God will have you clear out the old harvest to make room for the new harvest that’s coming. I see doors closing as an opportunity for God to trust us with more. Don’t see it as you lost something because you did something wrong. Abraham did nothing wrong, yet he thought he was about to lose his son.
God is testing you in the wait. Let the doors close as they may. You never know. You might just be able to come back and buy the whole building. See you tomorrow!
