When the Fog Lifted: A Devotional for the Battle in the Mind
You are not crazy. You are in a war.
That was the revelation that changed everything for me.
For years, I battled deep sadness that sometimes wore the mask of strength. I could show up, perform, encourage others, show up in church to volunteer—and still cry myself to sleep. My mind felt like a battlefield. Some days I fought lies about my worth, other days it was hopelessness, and sometimes I just felt numb.
But the truth? I wasn't weak. I was under attack. And the enemy's favorite strategy? Making you think you're alone.
Whether it's anxiety, depression, or unprocessed trauma that’s taken root in your thoughts, let me remind you today—your mind is sacred territory. And it belongs to God.
The Mind of Christ Is Yours
You don’t have to earn peace. Jesus already gave it to you.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” —John 14:27 (NIV)
The mind of Christ is not just a poetic concept. It’s your inheritance. That means when your thoughts spiral, you have access to His clarity, calm, and confidence. You are not a slave to mental chaos. You have power, love, and a sound mind.
Healing Is Holy Work
When I started doing the internal healing—letting God touch the parts of me that were weary, angry, confused, and tired of being strong—I realized healing doesn’t mean you never feel pain again. It means the pain no longer has authority over your identity.
Your triggers aren’t shameful.
Your silence doesn’t mean you're faithless.
Your process doesn’t make you less spiritual.
It makes you human. And beloved.
Healing, therapy, medication, community, worship—it’s all part of the journey. None of it cancels out your faith. In fact, it activates it.
For the Men You Love
This month, as we acknowledge Men’s Mental Health Awareness, I want to charge you with this truth:
The men in your life—your sons, your brothers, your husbands, your fathers—need safe spaces to be seen, to be soft, and to be supported without judgment.
Let’s normalize praying over our men’s minds, not just their hustle.
Let’s speak life over their identity, not just their responsibilities.
Let’s be bold enough to check in when they go quiet.
Because God is healing His sons, too.
Reflection Prompts
What lies has the enemy tried to plant in your mind lately?
How have you seen God show up in your mental health journey, even in small ways?
Who is one man in your life you can pray for this month? What does he need?

Prayer
Father, thank You that I’m not crazy—I’m called. I’m not weak—I’m a warrior. Even when I don’t feel strong, Your strength is made perfect in me. Today, I bring my mind, my moods, my trauma, my questions, and even my silence to You. Heal what’s heavy. Restore what’s broken. Remind me who I am. I also lift up the men in my life—those who struggle in silence, those who carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. Cover their minds with peace. Let them know they are seen and safe with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Lastly, can I ask you for a small but powerful favor? I know that not everyone may be able to commit to a monthly magazine subscription right now—but there's still a beautiful way you can be part of the impact. If each of you could purchase just 3 to 5 print issues—any issue of your choice—and intentionally sow them into the life of a woman you know, it would mean the world to me. Whether it's a young woman trying to find her way, a sister in Christ navigating a hard season, or even a stranger you feel led to bless, your simple act of generosity could shift something in her spirit. Sometimes, one word—on one page—at just the right time is all it takes to remind someone she’s seen, loved, and called. The link to purchase is below.
