"Healed for The Holidays"

Hey Girls Anthem,

It’s HERE! Our first full issue for Girls Anthem magazine. First, I felt led to put a spin on “Home for The Holidays” for our feature story for our Holiday and Beyond issue. When we think of going “home” for the holidays, we often picture people traveling to visit family in other cities or states. However, many of us are experiencing another holiday without those we loved deeply.

I asked two friends to join me in a virtual panel discussion on grief and its many forms. Here are some of the things we discussed:

• Our current grief strategies (how we deal with grief when it bum-rushes us)

• Grieving what we thought would be

• City grief (how to deal with coming from/living in communities where a principality of murder resides)

• How to manage your grief and put up boundaries when you’re the “strong friend”

• How to manage grief as a mom (Erica and Paige are both boy moms)

• Friendship grief (the difference between the relationship having to come to a permanent end vs. when God separates it for a season to purify it, etc.)
